Re:Commerce City - 2007/08/30 08:57
I spoke with Mike at Commerce City parks and rec. today. Here's a summary of the call:
The city will be doing walk-through on Sept. 17th for final acceptance to the contractor and to note any punch-list items. The next phase of the overall Pioneer Park includes pouring the concrete adjacent to the skatepark on the south end. This needs to be done before the skatepark can open. Commerce City will ask that the contractor for the next phase perform this concrete work ASAP, and then fence off the rest of the construction area so that the skatepark can open. The lighting for skatepark should be in next phase as well. The conduit is in place. Mike is fairly certain that the lights will be put in, but the city counsel has to approve the funding for the next phase of the Pioneer Park project. Still, this sounds almost like a sure thing. There are elements in place now to provide shade. There will be no fence at the skatepark, except a 4-foot fence on the north side to prevent people from wandering into the bowl at night. The skatepark should officially open in late September or early October.
By the way, Brent is probably the first person to ever do a nose slide at the park.
